A thirst for adventure sees Karly Spronk jumping from the South African wilderness to Australia.

Karly started her WSP journey in 2012, working out of the Johannesburg office. Finding her passion for sustainability and project management Karly’s desire to experience life on large scale projects brought her to the Sydney office in 2016 as a Project Manager in our Property Master Planning team.

‘Visits to our Shanghai and Dubai offices in 2015, exposed me to a wide range of large scale projects in different regions around the world. It was then that I got the desire to explore options for something exciting within the organisation,’ says Karly.

Since joining the Sydney team, Karly has worked closely with the Urban Growth NSW team on various urban renewal projects. Karly says, ‘I’ve loved building a relationship with the talented Urban Growth NSW team. It’s been really exciting and fulfilling. I’ve found a real passion for making the spaces between buildings worthwhile.’

Having received a MSc degree in project management, Karly’s next career goal is to achieve her International Project Management Accreditation with the Project Management Institute.

Karly attests to a few career highlights and achievements, but maintains that the real highlight of working in the built environment is witnessing how successful projects improve society's interactions at the tangible human scale.

By her own admission Karly’s found the transition to Sydney life smooth, ‘I love exploring nature so it doesn’t get much better than Sydney. In a year I’ve seen the Blue Mountains, Sydney’s walking trails, Tasmania, Melbourne, the Great Barrier Reef, Brisbane and the Snowy Mountains.’ Parting words from Karly speak volumes about who she is, ‘Invest in your relationships and never discount the people around you.’
