Gavin Elphinstone Appointed Technical Executive, Environment and Planning

To help governments house growing urban populations sustainably in well-connected cities, our environmental planners work on large transport and infrastructure projects to minimise and avoid environmental impacts and maximise benefits for our communities.

For citizens of future cities, we envision the natural environment, safety and health being paramount, while still enjoying a variety of mobility options.

We are pleased to welcome Gavin Elphinstone on board as Technical Executive – Environment and Planning. Gavin’s extensive experience strengthens our transport environmental assessments offering both in Queensland and nationally, to support our rapid growth in the transport infrastructure market.

Alex McDonald, WSP’s Section Executive, Environment, Planning, and Stakeholder Engagement said, “We’re delighted to have Gavin on board to help us grow our EIS business. His experience in the defence space is also valuable as we continue to increase our focus in that area.”

Gavin brings more than 25 years of experience in project management and project leadership roles as well as technical environmental assessment, approvals and land use planning. Most recently, he managed the delivery of the engineering and environmental services for the Brisbane Metro project. Prior to this, Gavin led the EIS for the Cross River Rail including the integration with design, business case, transport and consultation teams.  Further to Gavin’s experience in the transport sector, he brings industry knowledge and client connections in Defence, and Commonwealth, State and Local government.

Gavin is based in our Brisbane office and commenced in his role mid-April.
