Empowering Indigenous Australian Businesses

As part of our firm-wide commitment and actions towards reconciliation, WSP proudly sponsored the 2018 NAIDOC Perth Awards’ Business of the Year category held last week in Perth.

This year’s theme for NAIDOC Week is ‘Because of Her, We Can’. It recognises the achievements, voice and unwavering passion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women who have empowered past generations and paved the way for generations to come.

The award recognises outstanding Perth-based businesses that are at least 50 per cent Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander owned and who have made significant contribution to the community.

Trevor Tann, WSP’s Principal Consultant, presented the award to Go Cultural Tours and spoke about the work we are doing in providing essential repairs and maintenance services for power, water and wastewater infrastructure to remote Aboriginal communities across Western Australia (WA).

Alan Rimmer, WSP’s Regional Director for WA says, “Empowering Indigenous Australian communities is critical for future generations, and the need to create respectful relationships that promote growth for Indigenous Australian businesses has never been greater. There was immense passion about the strength and importance of female family members and role models within the community at the event, and we look forward to continuing to support such an important initiative.”
