WSP thought leaders have played a key role in the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand (EIANZ) 2018 Annual conference in Sydney on 1 and 2 November.

We are humbled and proud to have three of our team members from the Environment group share their knowledge, passion and expertise at this noteworthy conference today.

As the professional association for environmental practitioners from across ANZ, the EIANZ helps promote sustainability. With a theme of ‘imagine!’, this year’s conference has featured sessions discussing ecology, social impact assessments, digital disruption, waste, climate change, contaminated land,  and much more.

Our speakers have explored various topics around the importance of environment services. Discussed what it means to ‘take action’, and share their insights with students, government bodies, professionals, pioneers and veterans in the industry.

First up, was Adrian Heggie who discussed the challenges in implementing innovative technologies and approaches within existing contaminated lands regulatory frameworks. He was followed by Graham Smith, who presented about ways to sustainably treat contaminated land.

Finally, Jennifer Warren engaged the audience on the subject of water and whether we could imagine a life without quality water in Australia.

Aside from the conference being a chance to exchange ideas, build awareness and make new acquaintances, it is also a great opportunity for WSP to sponsor an Indigenous delegate Ashleigh Hyland from our Brisbane office and student Jason Chan currently studying in Sydney. The sponsorship means these young and upcoming stars of the environment industry are given an opportunity to network amongst their peers and learn more about what this industry means for their chosen studies.
