Based in Melbourne, Kieran has vast experience working on resilience, sustainability and environmental projects across Asia-Pacific, Europe and the Middle East with clients such as 100 Resilient Cities, Public Transport Victoria, City of Melbourne and the Australian Department of Defence. Having worked in Palestine, the Netherlands, Morocco and Georgia, Kieran brings a unique perspective to help solve our clients’ sustainability challenges. He has also advised the UK Committee on Climate Change on urban climate change adaptation and how citizens can be incentivised to undertake more climate-resilient behaviours.
Kieran will work closely with our clients to help them understand their level of resilience to acute shocks (e.g. flooding, bushfires) and chronic stresses (e.g. climate change, growing populations), and to implement practical adaptation measures. He says, “With our Future Ready program launching in 2020, we have a great opportunity to take our role in planning and designing resilient infrastructure to the next level. I’m looking forward to helping private and public organisations go beyond business as usual to deliver positive social and environmental outcomes in the places where we work, live and play.”
Commenting on Kieran’s appointment, Tim Parker, Director for Sustainability says, “The topics of climate and broader organisational resilience are increasingly top of mind for our clients in all sectors. Kieran brings a practical and strategic viewpoint that can support their decision making at an executive level. His knowledge, experience and leadership will be an important differentiator for our projects going forward.”
Kieran currently sits on the Steering Committee for the Making Cities Resilient initiative run by the United Nations’ Office for Disaster Risk Reduction.
