Simon Blake to Future Proof Australian Maritime Industry

To help broaden WSP’s footprint in maritime and port facilities, we have appointed Simon Blake as Maritime Lead.

Joining us from Royal HaskoningDHV, where he was Director of the UK Maritime Advice Group, Simon brings with him more than 15 years of maritime project experience, combined with a successful track record in leading a large maritime consulting business.

 

Maritime and port facilities help our economies to thrive, acting as a gateway to global markets and a first-stop for connections to different transportation modes. Accommodating increased trade with larger more efficient ships, optimising port and terminal operations and improving connectivity outside the port gates are just some of the challenges Australian ports face today.

 

With over 250 maritime engineers and specialists worldwide, providing advice on over 300 port projects in more than 65 countries, WSP is leading the industry to provide best practice advice on port and maritime projects worldwide.

 

Simon’s project experience extends to more than 20 countries including Europe, the Middle East, West Africa, and Asia Pacific. His background extends to ports with a number of different commodities including; Containers; Mining and Bulk; Oil and Gas; LNG; Naval and Defence. Some noteworthy projects include; a floating LNG terminal in West Africa, a new cruise ship terminal in the Caribbean, a number of oil import terminals in Asia, the greenfield New Doha Port Project in Qatar as well as an innovative project to expand Venice’s container terminal with the integration of an offshore container terminal and transhipment facility in Italy.

Simon joined the business earlier this year, and is based in our Melbourne office.
