Improving Healthcare in Supporting Our Thriving Communities

Welcome to Jonathan Ramajoo, who has been appointed as our National Healthcare sector lead.

An Associate Director, Jonathan brings more than a decade of healthcare experience to the firm having worked on projects of significance including the Sunshine Coast University hospital, which is the first teaching hospital opened in Australia in the past 20 years.

Commenting on his appointment Jonathan says, “A robust healthcare system is critical for the communities of today and the future. Around the country, our healthcare infrastructure is facing mounting pressure from an increasing and ageing population as well as the rise in chronic diseases, budget challenges, technological advancements, and evolving care models.

“To address these challenges, we are working closely with our clients to deliver state-of-the-art solutions designed to improve the health and wellbeing of our societies.”

Globally, WSP is known for helping to create outstanding healthcare facilities. “We specialise in people-centred design that provide clean and safe environments as well as positive experiences for staff, patients and their families,” says Suzanne MacCormick, Associate Director for Healthcare Advisory in the UK.

More recently, Jonathan managed the Cancer Care Centre project for the Port Moresby hospital in Papua New Guinea (PNG).

“Working in remote areas or difficult environments such as PNG can be challenging,” he adds. But by taking a highly disciplined approach, that is informed by our expertise, we are creating a centre that will have a considerable impact on the local community. This project is a great example of our significant coverage – irrespective of the geography our clients benefit from the same attention and focus that we provide to clients in major cities.”

Rob Clarke, Director of Property and Buildings, says “Early intervention, prevention and integration to improve our healthcare system and sector is imperative for future success. With Jonathan’s leadership, we have the opportunity to transform the way we deliver major health projects, creating vibrant future places and supporting our thriving communities.”
