Having brought together almost 600 staff from across three legacy offices, the team have flourished in their vibrant space that was designed and centred around health and wellbeing. The office was awarded a 2 Star Fitwel Certification, the highest scoring Fitwel Certification yet to be achieved in Australia, and we are the second WSP office to have been given this rating, after our Birmingham office in the UK. The office has also received a Five Star Green Star interiors rating.
Fitwel Ambassador, Ben Gibbs, describes some of the elements which contribute to increased activity, mental wellbeing and collaboration.
“The biophilic workplace design includes a diverse selection of over 1000 plants and daylight, and provides active floorplans supporting our people’s needs to interact with others or access quiet spaces suitable for reflection. There are numerous desk choices including sit-to-stand desks and exercise bikes with laptop stands, internal stairs connecting the four floors, a large communal space and extensive end of trip facilities all aim to improve activity for our people throughout the day. The building location provides further opportunities to promote physical activity by being positioned close to numerous amenities, services and public transport options.”
In addition, the design pays tribute to Australia’s traditional heritage through Indigenous-led designs, including artworks, indigenous patterns and a yarning circle – a harmonious communication space located in the communal staff space.
Our Brisbane office is a great example of how we are creating vibrant and sustainable places for our people and clients to collaborate in shaping thriving future communities.
