The $675M Community Hospitals Program will include the redevelopment of existing facilities and the construction of new additional facilities that will improve the way public healthcare is delivered. Located in growing communities, community hospitals give people better access to important ‘everyday’ health services closer to home.
Community hospitals are small public hospitals that provide a range of general health services for people who are not critically unwell. The addition of these hospitals will provide better links to local health care providers and take pressure off Victoria’s major public hospitals.
The appointment follows an initial engagement with VHBA which saw WSP deliver the master-planning and feasibility phases to support the program. WSP’s role will now progress to the delivery phases, with the scope of work including structural and civil engineering, building services, fire safety engineering and technology services.
Peter Hale, Principal Director in our Property and Buildings group says, “We’re proud to be supporting our client, VHBA, in the creation and expansion of future ready community hospitals that will ensure greater access to health care for future generations. Our appointment is a testament to our extensive experience in this sector and we look forward to seeing the completed project benefit the community.”
The Community Hospitals program is expected to be completed in late 2024.
