In playing a key role in the Digital team, James will also focus on shaping strategic partner relationships, and overseeing the successful delivery and implementation of digital solutions.
Hailing from his former role at the City of Newcastle, James brings strong working relationships with the Hunter region’s key stakeholders across government, the private sector and significant research institutions. His experience is further validated by his contribution to the delivery of a large array of complex smart city projects, including the Smart City Program, aimed at transitioning the City of Newcastle’s economy to a smart and innovative regional powerhouse.
WSP were strategic partners of the Smart City program that delivered an unparalleled suite of interconnected projects including sensor and fibre networks, wi-fi networks, smart pole deployments, data and analytics platforms, mobile applications, smart parking solutions, augmented reality experiences, autonomous vehicle trials, interactive smart screens, open data portals and city insights projects.
“The City of Newcastle’s Smart City Program is a pioneer project in Australia designed to promote integrated data and services, driving productivity and resource management with direct benefits to the City and its citizens,” said James.
“Having already worked closely with WSP on this significant city-shaping project, I’m excited to explore the solutions we can create for tomorrow’s challenges”.
Looking to the future
In addition to bringing his technical expertise to WSP, James will also play a significant role in shaping and nurturing strategic partner relationships.
