This highly competitive award has become the standard for workplace practices in the Greater Toronto Area. Employers are recognized for their leading workplace best practices, progressive policies and human resources management initiatives and diversity efforts.

It is a tremendous honour to be recognized as one of Greater Toronto’s Top Employers for the second year in a row. We are committed to the success of our people, and to building a work environment where everyone has the potential to grow.
Zoe Nutton Chief People Officer

The selection committee noted the following as reasons for WSP’s selection:

  • Investing in employee development which includes tuition subsidies for ongoing learning through academic institutions, as well as offering in-house and online training courses.
  • Increasing the duration of its maternity leave top-up program to 16 weeks, topping up to 80 per cent of an employee’s salary, and promoting work-life balance with alternative work options when employees return.
  • Helping employees prepare for life after work with retirement planning assistance services, matching RSP contributions and phased-in work options for employees close to retirement.

The Greater Toronto’s Top Employers recognizes employers with exceptional human resources programs and forward-thinking workplace policies. Employers are evaluated on eight criteria: (1) Physical Workplace; (2) Work Atmosphere & Social; (3) Health, Financial & Family Benefits; (4) Vacation & Time-Off; (5) Employee Communications; (6) Performance Management; (7) Training & Skills Development; and (8) Community Involvement. Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offer the most progressive and forward-thinking programs. The annual competition is open to any employer with its head office in the Greater Toronto Area; employers of any size may apply, whether private or public sector.
