WSP wins prestigious honours at ACEC-BC Awards

Infrastructure teams demonstrate innovative work in the Water sector.

WSP received multiple honours at the ACEC-BC Awards for Engineering Excellence, including the evening’s top prize.

Presented by the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies, British Columbia, the awards have a 30-year history of recognizing innovation in engineering.

WSP received the Lieutenant Governor’s Award, an Award of Excellence and an Award of Merit at the 30th annual ACEC-BC Awards on April 6.

Lieutenant Governor’s Award, Award of Excellence: Middle River

The Middle River Project involved research and development of a new treatment technology (BIEX) to help lift a boil water advisory in a First Nations community. Prior to WSP’s work, the boil water advisory had been in place for close to 14 years.

Award of Merit: Duteau Creek Water Treatment Plant

The Duteau Creek Water Treatment Plant used an innovative UV disinfection system to provide safe drinking water to the Regional District of North Okanagan. The team’s solution solved a $30 million challenge on a $7 million budget.

These honours are a testament to the world-class expertise that our professionals have to offer. The awards are a welcome recognition of the true impact these teams have, which is improving the daily quality of life for those without a safe and reliable water supply. It is a true privilege to lead the innovative and brilliant talent in WSP’s Infrastructure business, who are making sure that clean water is for everyone — no one gets left behind.
