Dave McLaughlin named Transportation Planning Professional of the Year
Ontario Traffic Council confers high-profile award to WSP leader after 28-year career.
One of our own transportation leaders was awarded the prestigious Transportation Planning Professional of the Year award for 2020 from the Ontario Traffic Council.
Dave McLaughlin is National Manager, Active Transportation Practice and Senior Project Manager at WSP, and a Registered Professional Planner (RPP) in Ontario. He received the award in honour of over 28 years of experience in transportation and land use planning.
Dave is a true leader in the field. As a multi-modal transportation planner, he has extensive experience in active transportation network planning and facility design, transportation master plans, cycling and trail system network strategies, design guidelines and policy development. He is also one of Canada’s leading urban mobility and complete streets specialists. Dave is a founding member of the Ontario Traffic Council's (OTC) Active Transportation Committee, and has presented and shared his knowledge and experience at numerous conferences and workshops.
Dave has made invaluable contributions to hundreds of active transportation design projects across the country, and has served as an expert advisor to all levels of government and has participated on numerous councils, committees and professional working groups, including the ITE's Pedestrian and Bicycle Council and the Board of Directors of the Share the Road Coalition. He has also authored and co-authored a number of key technical articles and whitepapers in the industry.
