Find out how your building or portfolio stacks up to other Canadian buildings on key performance metrics like energy and water use. We have compiled an extensive performance database of over 2,000 buildings across Canada, including almost 500 office buildings. This allows us to benchmark your building or portfolio’s energy and water performance, information that may be used to engage property management teams in investigating energy and water saving initiatives. Comparing your building to those in our database also highlights good performance which can be used to communicate your leadership to your tenants or other stakeholders.
Tenant Engagement and Partnership Program
Build a stronger relationship with tenants, and achieve an even greener building by ensuring your green initiatives are aligned with your tenants’ efforts. Through the Tenant Engagement and Partnership Program, we show both landlords and tenants the impact occupants’ energy use habits can have on building performance. By building a partnership, landlords and tenants can work together to improve building operations, lower energy costs, and target higher levels of green building certification. We help manage this collaboration in a way that builds trust and allegiance between the parties. We work with tenants to understand their drivers and then come up with practical and fun ways to help them make greener choices. Landlords develop a better relationship with their tenants and, in the process, enhance their building’s market reputation. The Tenant Engagement and Partnership Program includes a continuous feedback loop to monitor tenant engagement, determine what kind of improvements can be made, and measure the impact of the improvements on building performance. You can use these findings to report back to your senior management, other property managers, and external sustainability benchmarking organizations.
Green to Great® Performance Tracking and Reporting
Use the data on your building’s performance improvements to your best advantage: manage what you measure to target even greater opportunities. As part of our Green to Great® program, we help you monitor, track and report on the improvements in your building’s energy, water, outdoor air and waste management performance.
Our Performance Tracking and Reporting service is designed to help you:
- Continually improve green performance
- Stay competitive in an evolving market
- Prepare for LEED-EB recertification or the next wave of green building labeling
- Have more meaningful tenant engagement
- Demonstrate your progress and commitment to sustainability to your stakeholders
Integrated Design Management
The integrated design process helps create great architecture: it shifts you from compliance to inspiration. Using an Integrated Design approach creates a dynamic environment for the design team to make informed and inspired decisions about building performance. It allows us to look at environmental performance targets that go beyond LEED compliance. By expanding our feedback beyond energy consumption LEED points, we’re able to facilitate bigger design decisions about energy, carbon and comfort – about how a building will actually feel to its occupants.
Cladding Durability
As more emphasis is placed on a building’s long-term performance, clients are increasingly demanding durable buildings. The LEED Durable Building credit brings the impacts of long-term maintenance costs and disruption into the design decision-making process. For this credit, we help you develop a Building Durability Plan (BDP) that addresses the building envelope and structure. The plan provides quality assurance for designers and constructors and promotes a longer-lasting building with decreased maintenance.
Daylight Modelling
Achieve maximum benefit from daylight and a more effective design through daylight modeling. In addition to meeting the LEED credit requirements, daylight modelling can be used to inform decisions about glazing and interior space design. Ultimately, it can be used to optimize occupant comfort. While the simple calculation outlined in the LEED Reference Guide is acceptable for the majority of projects, it does not allow for complex space analysis, nor does it provide designers with an indication of actual daylight levels. Using a more sophisticated daylight modeling approach, we are able to measure actual daylight levels in the space which is often not practical from a scheduling perspective for new construction projects.
Green Education Program
Earn the LEED Innovation in Design Credit and demonstrate your environmental leadership through a Green Education Program. Education is a commonly targeted strategy for the CaGBC’s LEED Innovation in Design Credit. We have worked with many clients across Canada to develop dynamic and effective education programs. These not only satisfy the CaGBC’s requirements. They also become powerful marketing tools to demonstrate our clients’ commitment to green construction.
