Guangzhou Infinitus HQ, China

Standing for Energy Efficient Buildings: WSP provided design consultancy services to help the new Global Headquarters for Infinitus Group achieves the optimal balance of thermal comfort and energy efficiency. This way, energy costs will be kept at a lower level in the long run. The project is set to achieve LEED NC Gold Certification upon completion in 2021.

WSP provided MEP consultancy services up to design development stage. WSP also provided LEED Consultancy and Green Building Consultancy services.

Challenge

This is an unusual office function project, it has deep plan floor area, resulted in challenges on thermal comfort in large space such as entrance lobby, challenges on natural daylight penetration to the deep plan floor space.

Solution/results

In the design stage, WSP got heavily involved in the comparison of varies design options, upon energy simulation with qualitative results, the following features have been selected to optimised balance between thermal comfort and energy efficiency: High performance façade; enhanced natural daylight through atrium glass ceiling, ventilation openings on each floor for better natural ventilation during mixed season.

The outcomes are the current design solution improve thermal comfort level while maximising energy saving hence keep the energy cost at a lower level in the long run.
