Gbenga Oludotun, Associate

Having worked in the infrastructure industry for over a decade, Gbenga started at WSP with the ambition to lead like a futurist. Four years on, his drive is as strong as ever and he continues to pilot the use of visionary techniques and technologies in the projects he works on.

Gbenga knows that it takes more than visionary thinking to deliver future ready projects, which is why he embraced working hand in hand with our client, partners and supply chain for the HS2 Enabling Works project for the Birmingham Interchange. As well as designing the very first set of bridges to be constructed for HS2, the project also involved a new off-site construction method that enabled the bridge to be delivered more efficiently in terms of time, cost and even carbon output. Gbenga is proud that this innovative approach to infrastructure delivery brought teams together to collaborate on exciting new techniques and even significantly improved safety compared with industry norms.

Reaching zero harm and driving net zero targets are both things that Gbenga is passionate about, and his place on WSP’s prestigious Taskforce initiative will see him present forward-thinking ideas to the WSP board to ensure our business maximise opportunities to meet vision zero and decarbonisation promises both internally and for our clients.

My proudest moment to date at WSP was being selected to join the Taskforce UK team after a competitive application process. Being selected confirmed WSP’s recognition of my talent and ability to drive the business forward into the future.

The future looks bright for Gbenga, and his determination to see beyond project delivery to focus firmly on creating Future Ready, sustainable schemes shines through. In decades to come, he looks forward to seeing how the novel approaches like offsite that he used on projects today, grow and lead to even more exciting outcomes for the next generation.
