Network Rail has this week announced the award of its multi-discipline and single-discipline regional framework contracts whereby engineering and professional services consultancy, WSP, has been successful across the board.
The framework, worth an estimated £400m, covers all design disciplines and will run for the next five years of CP6, which is responsible for delivering the best outcome for passenger and freight users.
WSP has been appointed to deliver multi-discipline national design services, as well as electrification and plant services in the South East, North West and Scotland regions, and civils and structural services in the South West.
Darren Reed, Managing Director of Rail at WSP, said: “This appointment is a significant win for WSP and we are delighted to continue our long-term collaborative partnership with Network Rail and its regions over the next five years. We are particularly keen to bring end users and operators into the design process early on to achieve the improved performance, value and customer benefits that Network Rail expects from its infrastructure and services.”
Daljinder Chatta, Commercial Director at Network Rail, said: “Network Rail will have greater access to a design support network providing mutual benefits to both Network Rail and the supply chain. Some of these include working more directly with suppliers, improved assurance, getting closer to experts, improved business and safety performance and enabling innovation to thrive.”
The framework contracts went live on 1st January 2020.
This appointment builds upon WSP’s regional strength working with such bodies as Transport for the North, Transport for the South East, Transport for Greater Manchester, and Transport Scotland.
