WSP UK continues to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely, ensuring we are prepared and able to provide a necessary and proportionate response to any scenario, prioritising the safety and welfare of our employees, clients and supply chain in our response. We continue to follow the latest advice from the Public Health Authorities, the UK Government, as well as liaising with our WSP colleagues worldwide.

WSP has long championed a virtual working environment and so we were very quickly able to transition employees to remote working at the start of the pandemic. We have invested in tools such as Yammer, Skype for Business and Microsoft Teams to enable collaboration without impacting our infrastructure, and our Virtual Private Network (VPN) allows remote access to WSP IT systems such as the intranet and project data stores.

The UK Government is enabling employers to re-open offices based on the provision of a COVID-19 secure environment. We have a re-occupation strategy in place and have started to open offices taking a phased approach. Opening offices will further support our focus on clients, project delivery and collaboration, albeit in a safe and compliant manner.

The health, safety and wellbeing of employees and visitors to a WSP office remains our top priority. Offices will operate at 30% capacity to comply with the 2 metre social distancing rule. We have put many measures in place including sanitising stations throughout the office, a one way system, clinical waste bins, enhanced cleaning regime and new procedures when using common areas. We will continue to take positive steps in providing safe and compliant offices that are open for business now and into the future.

With the support of the UK Board, the WSP UK Coronavirus Response Team has implemented our resilience and business continuity plan to ensure that any further impact of COVID-19 across our operations is addressed and mitigated to the greatest extent possible. We are working to the international standard for business continuity, ISO22301. The Response Team meets regularly to monitor developments and to plan and prepare for possible future scenarios such as a second wave of the virus.

WSP is a diversified 50,000 person business with over £4 Billion in annual Revenues operating globally. With 7,000 staff in the UK, the strength of our operating model, coupled with our ability to be agile and responsive, will serve us well in this changing environment.
