With the project still at design stage, WSP had already built a complete building information model to optimise the plans.
The building information model contains 3,200 intelligent objects, each holding 50 data records.
Heron Plaza WSP is examining the floor-to-floor design, to give the owner the maximum floor-to-ceiling heights so that they can derive the greatest value from the building. It is also looking at the plant layout with respect to architecture, space and access to optimise allocations for mechanical plant rooms.
The WSP team is also working with the quantity surveyor to enable it to take the most accurate quantities from the building information model.
We will provide contractors’ drawings from the building information model at an early stage in the project, which will allow components to be fabricated ahead of time and improve the accuracy of the procurement process.
One additional challenge with this project is that a detailed ground movement assessment is needed due to its location over an Underground tunnel and a proposed Crossrail tunnel.
