WSP’s award-winning global Due Diligence practice supports companies and investors in identifying and managing Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), energy and sustainability issues that can significantly impact CAPEX and operational costs, as well as create reputational risks, divert management resources and reduce asset values.

Local, international, mobile and fast

Our EDD team is the largest consultancy provider of real estate environmental due diligence in the UK, and we are able to draw upon in-house technical experts from a wide variety of specialties to address any issue from asbestos to flood risk, from remedial cost appraisal to energy management.

Our UK team can call on expert colleagues around the world, from Frankfurt to New York, Montreal to Hong Kong. As well as our local expertise we have the scale and footprint to support any transaction, at any stage, anywhere in the world. Whether clients are planning a small transaction on a single building, a multi-site multiregional property portfolio transaction, or a large international corporate acquisition, we can help by providing insightful due diligence consultancy that supports decision making and facilitates deals. We know that tight timelines and confidentialities go with the territory, and we have built a reputation for quickly mobilising specialists from our teams.

Unparalleled breadth of expertise

We provide a full range of due diligence services for vendors and purchasers ranging from pre-divestment reviews, Phase I and II investigations, hazardous materials / asbestos assessments, energy consultancy, specialty technical due diligence, integrated building surveys and post-acquisition / merger integration support and more.

In addition to our EHS specialists, we offer industrial process and infrastructure expertise, and provide technical evaluations of technologies that can be applied to various industries, including the renewable energy and waste sectors.

Award-winning, commercially focused practice

WSP is a three-time Environmental Advisor of the Year Award winner by Acquisitions Monthly, a leading international M&A and buyouts magazine. Judges stated: “The firm has once again shown how innovation, an expert knowledge of the sector and its breadth of service has helped clients to reach workable efficient solutions to their needs and environmental challenges."

In the UK, we frequently provide environmental, health and safety due diligence services to a range of clients; including private equity, global investment banks, commercial banks, asset managers, pension funds, local authorities, and trade buyers. We regularly work alongside a Fortune 500 global manufacturer, and are the preferred due diligence provider for a Fortune 100 Corporate Financier as our deliverables adhere to applicable in-country standards as well as the client’s internal stewardship and sustainability requirements.

Recent projects include Project Chess Breweries, in Eastern Europe. In December 2016, we provided technical environmental advice to Asahi Breweries Ltd who became the successful bidder in the purchase of beverage assets in a €7.3 billion deal. The assessment included rapid gap analysis of the vendor due diligence documents, identifying any potential concerns that could impact upon the deal. The team provided estimated costs and legal implications to feed into the bid process.

Also, in 2015, we completed almost 100 phase I environmental assessments of multi-tenanted UK sites to support the sale and leaseback of properties. This project was completed on a ten-week turnaround for a confidential client.
