Chief Executive Officer
Mark Naysmith is our UK Chief Executive Officer based between London and Edinburgh, and also a member of the Global Leadership Team. Mark is accountable for strategic growth and direction, together with operational delivery of the UK business. He is responsible for approximately 7,800 employees, who deliver annual fee revenues of c£500m, through a diverse client base across the public and private sectors, in the built and natural environment.
Mark joined the organisation in 1988. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) with a BEng (1st Class Honours) in Civil & Transportation Engineering. Having started as a civil and structural engineer, Mark spent the majority of his practicing career as a transport planner before holding a number of senior board positions in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
Mark was sponsored by WSP through his BEng at Edinburgh Napier University. Through his personal passion for mentoring and encouraging early career professionals, he has maintained strong links with the University throughout his career and is honoured to now be an Edinburgh Napier University campaign Board member.
In 2014 Mark was awarded the Association for Consultancy and Engineering - European Chief Executive of the Year Award.
Chief Financial Officer
Miles is the UK Chief Financial Officer appointed in 2017. He was previously the Managing Director of Mouchel, which was acquired in late 2016. With broad international experience across different sectors, Miles has led significant business restructuring, process and financial system improvement projects throughout his career.
Miles started his career at Atkins plc and Sulzer AG, before joining the Mouchel Group as Group Financial Controller. In 1999 Miles joined Siemens’ Building Technologies business as Finance Director, subsequently becoming the Mergers & Acquisitions Manager. In 2009, Miles returned to the Mouchel Group as Finance & Commercial Director, before going on to become Managing Director.
Miles is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Management Accountants (ACMA), and gained his BA in Accounting and Finance from Kingston University in the UK.
Chief Operating Officer
Mike Rogerson is the UK Chief Operating Officer and a member of both the UK Executive Committee and the UK Executive Leadership Team.
Mike’s roles involves providing commercial and operational leadership and direction on the UK’s largest risks and opportunities, executive responsibility for IT and for our approach to provision of off-shore technical expertise, leadership of our legal function, and leadership of our safety, health and quality management systems.
Mike has 27 years’ experience in consultancy and has been with the organisation for 17 years. Mike is a chartered structural engineer with a technical background in highways, bridges and aviation markets.
Managing Director, Planning & Advisory
Ian Liddell is the Managing Director of our UK Planning & Advisory business, which comprises 2,000 people working across our Development, Environmental and Project & Commercial Services teams. Ian is also a member of both the UK Executive Committee and the UK Executive Leadership Team.
Ian is a Chartered Civil Engineer with over 30 years’ experience in transport planning, and specialises in front-end technical advisory roles on development feasibility studies; transport strategies; concept designs; and as an expert witness. Ian has been involved in major projects across several of London’s Opportunity Areas and in resolving complex transport and infrastructure delivery issues on large-scale residential, commercial and retail projects.
Managing Director, Property & Buildings
Kamran Moazami is the Managing Director of our UK Property and Buildings business and is based in London. He has over 37 years of international structural engineering experience in the USA, Middle East, China, and the UK. Kamran is also a member of both the UK Executive Committee and the UK Executive Leadership Team.
Kamran received his BSCE and MSCE from Columbia University New York and gained his professional engineering licence in New York. He is a Fellow of both the American Society of Civil Engineering and The Institution of Structural Engineers.
Kamran opened the London office in 1989 and together with other directors has created one of the most successful and dynamic consultancy services in the UK responsible for iconic projects including The Shard, 22 Bishopsgate, and One Blackfriars.
Kamran has been responsible for the design to completion of over 30 million square foot of building projects across the globe, many with innovative structural solutions. He has authored and co-authored several engineering articles and was the winner of the 2013 IABSE Milne Medal.
Managing Director, Transport & Infrastructure
Steve Smith is the Managing Director of our UK Transport & Infrastructure business, responsible for all operations and the financial performance of this 2,300-strong team. Steve is also a member of both the UK Executive Committee and the UK Executive Leadership Team.
Steve has been with the organisation for 30 years and was formerly the Director of Transportation & Infrastructure in the USA where he successfully managed and oversaw the $1 billion interim reconstruction of the Gowanus Expressway Viaduct in New York City.
Steve is a Professional Engineer with a B.S.C.E. from SUNY at Buffalo and an MBA in Finance from the University of Connecticut.
UK Managing Director, Energy & Industry
He is a passionate business leader with a strong focus on people, clients and projects with a particular emphasis on SHE management and team development.
Managing Director, Rail & Israel
Darren Reed is the Managing Director for UK Rail and Israel. Darren is also a member of both the UK Executive Committee and the UK Executive Leadership Team.
With responsibility for the UK rail market, Darren leads key client relationships with Crossrail, High Speed 2, Network Rail and Transport for London.
Darren has over 20 years’ experience advising international rail industry clients on the feasibility, development, design and management of their infrastructure programmes, specialising in the early development of rail infrastructure projects to achieve performance outcomes for our clients.
Darren is a Fellow of the Permanent Way Institution, a member of the UK High Speed Rail Industry Leaders, and is the Chair of WSP’s Equality Diversity & Inclusion Steering Group in the UK.
Human Resources Director
Paul Newing is our UK HR Director, responsible for all people recruitment, development and employment issues managed by the UK HR team. Paul also coordinates human resource matters across the EMEIA region.
Paul joined us in January 2008, initially as HR Director for the Environmental business before taking up his current role in 2012. Paul has 35 years’ experience and has previously held human resources roles in the textile and chemical industries. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and holds a BA in Philosophy & Economics.
EMEIA General Counsel and Head of Legal
Karen Sewell is the EMEIA General Counsel and Head of UK Legal for WSP. She is a member of both the UK Executive Committee and the Executive Leadership Team. Karen is based in our Leeds and London offices, and her role involves the oversight and implementation of all legal matters throughout the EMEIA region, with particular focus on the UK business.
Karen joined WSP in May 2016, and has extensive legal and commercial experience, gained over 16 years in practice in the UK and the US. Karen joined us from Addleshaw Goddard LLP where she was a corporate finance partner. Prior to that, she trained with Linklaters LLP in London and spent a number of years at law firm Gibson Dunn LLP, headquartered in California.
Karen graduated from Oxford University in 1997 with a degree in Jurisprudence.
Director, Business Development
Paul Tremble is a member of both the UK Executive Committee and the Executive Leadership Team, and is based in London.
He is responsible for our strategic growth activities, with executive responsibility for marketing and communications, business development, bidding and proposals, key client management and client feedback for WSP’s work across all market sectors in the UK. He is also lead director for some of our biggest UK private sector clients and a member of the Global Property & Buildings Leadership Team.
Paul joined WSP in 2003. He is a chartered mechanical engineer with over 30 years’ building services experience, working for design, contracting and client organisations. His work on high profile multi-discipline projects in London includes 150 Bishopsgate, St Johns Wood Square and a new EMEA headquarters for a US investment bank.
Paul graduated from Northumbria University in 1989 with a first class honours engineering degree.
Chief Information Officer
Lesley Hume joined WSP in September 2018 as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the UK and South Africa. Reporting into the UK CEO, Mark Naysmith and Global CIO, Gino Poulin she is responsible for managing the IT strategy and computer systems for the UK and South Africa.
Lesley has over 20 years of experience in both the public and private sector with a career which has encompassed a wide range of digital and senior leadership roles across central and local government and the engineering consultancy and oil and gas sector.
Lesley joined us from the UK Government’s Cabinet Office where she worked as Chief Operating Officer (COO) since 2008 and prior to that, the CIO at the Cabinet Office, where she held responsibility for all corporate services across the Cabinet Office and 10 Downing Street.
Prior to joining the Cabinet Office Lesley worked as Group Information Services Director at Atkins.
Director or Marketing and Communications
Emma Wyatt is the UK Director of Marketing and Communications in the UK with responsibility for internal and external brand and reputation. Prior to this, she worked at the Australian property developer, Lend Lease, as Head of Marketing and Communication for their EMEA operation, overseeing consultation and PR on major projects such as the Elephant and Castle development, Greenwich Peninsular and the Olympic Village, as well as managing the Investor Relations programme for the EMEA CEO.
Before Lend Lease, Emma worked on major global, heavy civil bids for the American Engineering company, Bechtel. She was part of the Crossrail and UK Olympics bid teams during her time there.
Emma holds a BSc in Economics, an LPC in UK Law and has a green belt Six Sigma qualification.
In her spare time, Emma is on the Board of Trustees for a legal charity as well as an educational charity, where she also chairs the Finance Committee.
