To ensure that these optimal, index-linked returns are achievable, our team of seasoned experts assess and analyze the responsibilities, risks, and mitigants with regard to commercial, environmental, and technical issues for building, transportation, and other infrastructure assets.
Prior to a transaction, whether for a greenfield investment, asset acquisition, or a divestment, we work with our clients to understand their (or their target investor’s) goals and risk appetite. After devising a due diligence plan, our advisors reach throughout WSP to supply the appropriate experts in design and construction, operations and maintenance, asset management, capital improvements, and technology.

Lenders’ Technical Advisory
WSP has a strong Lenders’ Technical Advisory track record, with over 450 roles globally. We can support lenders, debt funds, or bond investors providing debt to private finance transactions for transport and social infrastructure (hospitals, schools, and courts), offering targeted advice that focuses on the key issues that could impact their loan or investment.
A new picture has been emerging since the financial crisis, one of a more competitive and larger-than-ever investment boom in property. Driven by a surge in demand as the world’s fast-growing population is moving closer to the bright lights and the availability of global finance to invest in our cities, opportunities for growth are more present than ever. We are seeing increasing levels of foreign direct investment in property from sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, and Asian developers, and our knowledge and understanding of property markets around the world make us the ideal partner to support these transactions.
WSP in Action
In the United States, WSP is the rail delivery partner for the country’s first high-speed rail system and has developed new railway standards for HSR in the country. The system will connect California’s mega-regions, contribute to economic development and a cleaner environment, create jobs, and preserve agricultural and protected lands. Using federal and state funds, including Cap and Trade auction proceeds, the California High Speed Rail Authority (the Authority) plans to begin high-speed operations by 2022, and connect San Francisco to Los Angeles in under three hours at speeds of 350km/h (220mph) by 2029.
We have been helping shape high-speed rail in California from the earliest feasibility studies in the 1990s to the latest business plans in 2014. The firm is now serving as the Authority’s Rail Delivery Partner (RDP), a seven-year engagement from the planning and preliminary design phase to project delivery and operations.
