Galaxy Macau, Cotai, Macau

One of the most significant additions to Macau's rapidly-expanding Cotai Strip

  • Galaxy Entertainment Group

Project Status

  • Completed in 2011 (Phase 1), 2015 (Phase 2)

The greatest challenge was the sheer scale of the project. The site measures 224,000 sq.m. and the completed complex has a total floor area of 450,000 sq.m.

There are three five-star hotels with more than 2,200 luxury rooms, a 200,000 sq.m. gaming hall designed to house 700 gaming tables and numerous slot machines, more than 50 food and beverage outlets, and a high-end retail area of  2,700 sq.m.

As well as a 6,000 sq.m. wave pool and two public open heated pools, there are indoor pools for each hotel and a private pool/jacuzzi for each of the ten luxury villas.

Our Approach

We were responsible for the design and supervision of installation of all building services associated with the development. Reflecting the size and complexity of the project, our team involved 30 in-house designers and 20 resident engineers on site, overseeing every aspect of mechanical, electrical and plumbing installation and fire engineering consultancy, from concept design until final commissioning.

In particular, the MEP systems presented many challenges regarding the system design, distribution to individual users, selection of materials, control systems, installation and testing and commissioning. The central chiller plant has a capacity of 21,800RT, an installed electricity capacity of 60MVA, with an emergency generator capacity of 16MVA, and the daily water consumption will be 4,322 m3.

We are also the MEP consultant for the Phase 2 and Phase 3 Arena development of this mega resort.
