The Singapore Art Centre is a landmark building consisting of two main buildings, notably the Drama/Lyric Theatre and the Concert Hall. The S$500 million project is enclosed by a futuristic roof design; the roof structure was constructed using a 3D space frame allowing for a column-free space of approximately 360 feet (110 meters) long by 213 feet (65 meters) wide. At the highest point, the roof rises approximately 98 feet (30 meters). The supports to the roof have been designed to be phonic insulated, and consist of a series of base isolators to reduce vibration and noise to the Drama Theatre and the Concert Hall. WSP was engaged to conduct accredited checking services for the civil and structural elements.
