As part of a wide-ranging technical support contract for connected and automated vehicles (C/AV), WSP USA was responsible for developing a C/AV strategic plan for the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), which establishes agency vision and objectives, identifies gaps in current initiatives, and outlines key tasks to help achieve objectives.
New technologies are rapidly enabling innovations in transportation modes and services. In just a few years, these innovations have brought us ride-hail services, autonomous vehicles, bicycle-sharing systems, ride-pooling services and more. The impacts of these services on our transportation system have largely gone unmeasured.
An optimized combination of policy initiatives across strategic planning, project development, finance, design and delivery, technology, operations and maintenance will drive development. WSP USA works with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s operating administrations, national-governmental organizations and other stakeholders to advance the state-of-the practice within local, state and regional governments and agencies to deliver service better, faster, safer and more reliably.
WSP USA continues to provide critical expertise to “Smart Columbus”, the City of Columbus, Ohio’s pursuit of its successful bid in the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (USDOT) Smart City Challenge.
Metrolinx, an agency of the Government of Ontario, Canada, selected WSP USA to outline emerging trends in technology and society and their potential impact on transportation in the Toronto region.
WSP USA has several on-call contracts to provide multidisciplinary connected and automated vehicle support across various business units within the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT).
As part of the Planet M initiative, the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research Development and Engineering Center and the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) partnered to test connected vehicle applications on the I-69 freeway in Lapeer County, Michigan. WSP USA was a part of the MDOT team leading the infrastructure deployments.
WSP USA is responsible for developing and deploying the roadside infrastructure that communicates with vehicles being tested at Mcity, and on public roadways throughout Ann Arbor, Michigan. Mcity is one of the few test tracks in the world dedicated to connected and automated vehicle (C/AV) technology, located at the University of Michigan.
WSP USA’s experts are engaged in a wide array of national research covering all aspects of connected and automated vehicles (CAV).
WSP USA was selected by the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) to plan and design the Connected Corridor, a vision for a key regional arterial to be outfitted with connected vehicle (CV) communications infrastructure enabling the exchange of information with nearby vehicles.
