In pursuit of reducing the shoreline and infrastructure’s vulnerability to coastal hazards, Parks Canada selected WSP to evaluate the state of various structures and address ongoing issues related to climate change, erosion, and maintenance and repair.
Looking to replenish the degraded natural environment of Cap-des-Rosiers beach and to eliminate the cost of maintaining and repairing the damaged coastal road and infrastructures, Parks Canada selected WSP to conduct a hydrodynamic study of the coastal processes and develop several restorative solutions that will limit submersion and erosion due to sea level rise.
An Integrated Resource Recovery (IRR) strategy was developed for the Courtice Water Pollution Control Plant and was a first step towards the sustainability of this 68.2 MLD plant. The study searched for technical solutions to derive value from the plant’s waste and to minimize its inputs. The results not only brought focus to the Region, which lead to the IRR option to pursue further into the design and implementation phase, but also immediate improvements with the implementation of short-term solutions.
WSP was appointed as the BEAM Plus consultant of this commercial office building.
