WSP fully supports the introduction of the Infrastructure Commission and welcomes last week’s announcement of the inaugural board.

Infrastructure needs to be well considered and prioritised to give the best possible return for human wellbeing whilst also being resilient, adaptable to new circumstances and future proof.

The Commission will develop a 30-year infrastructure strategy for New Zealand based on broad strategy and priorities for infrastructure, not on individual projects. This approach takes infrastructure planning beyond the short-term political cycles and embeds decision-making and delivery in principles of value for money, transparency and accountability.

WSP’s DNA is embedded in the infrastructure of New Zealand and we look forward to the positive impact the Commission will deliver.
