Technical Director Water
New Zealand

David is passionate about exceptional client service, technical excellence and developing people.  He especially enjoys working collaboratively with clients, contractors, designers and stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions with great community outcomes.  He is excited to be focussed on the water sector full time.

“It’s an exciting time in the water sector.  We face many challenges - regulatory reform, increasing expectations about levels of service and environmental footprint, aging infrastructure and affordability to name a few.  To support our clients and communities we need to draw on local and international best practice & foster innovation.  We also need to invest heavily in our people.”

David is fortunate to have helped clients realise some great projects, including leading the engineering services teams for Pegasus Town, the Christchurch Southern Motorway Stage 1 D&C and the Dudley Creek Flood Remediation project.  He also led one of the Stronger Christchurch Infrastructure Rebuild Team (SCIRT) design teams, and found the opportunity to support the community through the earthquake recovery phase particularly rewarding.

David has a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from the University of Auckland, and a Masters of Business Administration in Technology Management from Deakin University.  He is a Chartered Member of Engineering New Zealand and a Chartered Professional Engineer.

Outside of work he has three children, and enjoys mountain biking, skiing, any kind of fishing and DIY.
