Sustainability was a core focus for this project, targeting a 5 Star Green Star rating. The design narrative was to create a space to nurture new ideas and bring life-giving solutions to people in need around the world. The manufacturing space was designed with tight temperature, humidity and pressurisation control.
CLIENT BRIEF/PROJECT CHALLENGES
The Fisher and Paykel Healthcare (F&PH) Building 4 facility is the fourth building on the campus with a similar mix of facilities to the previous three building, including: labs/workshops, open plan office space, office support spaces, cafeteria, commercial kitchens, manufacturing and distribution centre. The building has a very ambitious energy target for the office space of 100kWh/m².
Flexibility and functionality of space has been very important and integral to how F&PH operate as a business. As such the building services serving the building are designed in a manner to allow this. This is most important within the manufacturing and laboratory spaces where plant and equipment constantly move as processes and projects develop and change.
