Farah Yassine, our Sustainable Resource Management Lead from the Environment & Sustainability team, has recently been voted in to the Emirates Green Building Council (EGBC) Management Team by the EGBC members of the board, where she will serve as the Vice Chair (VC) to the EGBC for the 2020-2021 term, replacing former VC Khaled Bushnaq, CEO of Energy Management Services.

Farah will be serving her term with His Excellency Dr. Ali Al Jassim, CEO of Etihad ESCO, as Chair of EGBC; Afra Al Owais, leader of the Energy Management & Audit Department of Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority (SEWA), whom will also be serving as VC alongside Farah; Habiba Al Marashi, co-founder of EGBC and Emirates Environmental Group, as Treasurer; and Huda Shaka, Associate Director from Arup, as Secretary to the board.

Her role entails exercising the responsibilities of the Chair in his absence, representing and promoting EGBC and speaking on behalf of EGBC in events as required. She will also be involved in EGBC management decisions.

Commenting on her recent appointment to the EGBC management team, Farah said; “I am honoured to have been elected as the Vice Chair for Emirates Green Building Council for the 2020-2021 term. This is an excellent opportunity for me personally, and for us as WSP in general, to positively influence and promote sustainability in the region and help achieve EGBC’s Vision of the UAE to be a global leader for sustainability in the built environment.”

WSP has been a corporate member for EGBC since 2007, and has been a Board Member since 2013. We have continuously supported EGBC, sponsoring several of their events and sitting on the judging panel for the EGBC MENA Awards. In addition, Joanne Robinson, WSP’s Environment and Sustainability Manager provides voluntary support to EGBC for their ISO certification and audits.
