WSP in Poland is providing structural engineering services to this century old residential building located in London prestigious quarter, over the Piccadilly Underground line. The building is characterized by the heritage-listed façade in red brick and stone dressings. The complete internal structure will be rebuilt, underground level deepened by one additional level and the upper storeys will be rebuilt as reinforced and steel construction (two highest levels). The roof overlap with chimneys is also heritage-listed, therefore they will be reconstructed in the same form.
Due to underground rail tracks it is necessary to incorporate anti-vibration inserts across all structural elements. Because of architectural requirements, isolation has been added below the ceiling over the ground level.
The new structure will comprise of two underground and six upper storeys. The combination of new and refurbished spaces will provide 6,000 m² of residential, 2,950 m² of retail and 2,700 m² of office facilities.
