We are proud to announce that we have received the globally coveted 2020 Gold Health and Safety Award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

This internationally-recognised award for demonstrating world-class health and safety standards is a major accomplishment for our business in the Middle East and builds on the Silver success that we received during our last submission for the RoSPA Awards.

Matthew Jackson, our Head of HSEQ at WSP in the Middle East, noted that the RoSPA Gold Award gives us a solid foundation to build on what we already have in place and this also recognises we are able to realise and achieve our HSEQ strategy through industry-leading innovation.

“It’s an honour for WSP to gain international recognition for such a high calibre achievement. Our success represents the organisation that we are and the commitment we have to Health & Safety at both at a project and corporate level,” he said.

“This goes a long way towards helping us stand out from our industry peers and also provides our clients with a level of assurance that we are committed to being locally dedicated with international scale, especially when it comes to gold-standard Health & Safety best practices.”

The selection process for RoSPA awards consists of an independent review of policies, procedures and performance, which is conducted by a panel of industry experts and judged accordingly.

Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of qualifications, awards and events, said: “The RoSPA Awards scheme is the longest-running of its kind in the UK, but it receives entries from organisations around the world, making it one of the most sought-after global accolades in health and safety.

“The RoSPA Award winners are vital to help achieve this goal, as by entering they are driving up standards and setting new benchmarks for organisations everywhere.”

The majority of awards are non-competitive and mark achievement at merit, bronze, silver and gold levels. Gold medals, president’s awards, orders of distinction and the Patron’s Award are presented to organisations sustaining the high standards of the gold level over consecutive years.

Competitive awards go to the best entries in 24 industry sectors including construction, healthcare, transport and logistics, engineering, manufacturing and education.
