Biodiversity targets and ecosystem restoration needs to be more ambitious
WSP are helping to create places that benefit nature and society. We are working with clients to assess the biodiversity impact of development, advocating for the benefits of bringing nature into cities, preserving wildlife habitat and improving climate resilience through ecosystem restoration and see the protection of nature as an integral part of any net zero strategy.
While WSP and many of its clients have set goals to minimize biodiversity impacts, to restore ecosystems there is a need for more ambitious targets and partnerships between the public and private sector.
Sending a message to government
“By joining the Call to Action, we are sending a message that thriving communities and resilient economies rely on healthy ecosystems and are underpinned by biodiversity,” says André-Martin Bouchard, WSP Global Director for Environment & Resources and Global Sustainability Sponsor. “That is why we are proudly putting our voice behind this initiative. We want to send the message that nature is vital for all of us. Companies like WSP, together with many of its clients and peers in both the public and private sector, have a big role to play in helping reverse biodiversity loss this decade. Alongside tackling climate change, restoring biodiversity is one of the most important challenges we face.”
Together we can help protect and restore our global ecosystems -- because nature is everyone’s business.
