#engineeredOURway - Martina Pinto

We hear from Martina, our newest Graduate Engineer in Desalination, who shares her WSP journey with us so far in the Power & Water team.

What do you do?
I am the new Graduate Engineer in the desalination team (Power and Water Department).

Where are you originally from?
I am from Rome, Italy.

How long have you been with WSP and in the region?
I arrived in the Middle East one month ago.

What got you into engineering?
I want to make a difference to people’s quality of life in a sustainable way, while also applying my studies. So, what better way to do that than apply my technical knowledge to create value within the engineering industry?

What are your most valued strengths at work?
Teamwork and problem-solving (I enjoy solving challenging situations, especially when it comes to applying innovative ideas), and above all, my biggest strength is resilience and the motivation this brings me to overcome difficulties and continuously improve myself.

What are you passionate about?
Travelling is my greatest passion – a passion imparted by my parents. I started travelling around the world since I was 11 years old, and since then, I have never stopped. Developing your capacity to adapt, break down barriers between cultures, look at life with a different perspective…these are just a few reasons why I love travelling!

What is it you do outside of work that you feel most proud of?
I am most proud of my approach to life and facing difficult situations, as well as my tenacity through all things – this helps me to get what I most want.

What has been your favourite experience at WSP so far?
So far, I do not have any single favourite experience, but I think that being part of an engineering team, and being involved in several projects, from which I learn a lot every day in many different disciplines, can be considered my favourite and most stimulating experience.

What do you think makes WSP a great place to work?
Its professionalism, its focus on growth, and its interest to promote graduates and their career development.
