Some of the firm’s projects in the Virginia Beach region include the Elizabeth River Tunnels Project, for which Mr. Lohr served as the civil/roadway design manager for a sub-consultant to WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff for the MLK Expressway section of the project; the Dominion Boulevard (US-17) over the Elizabeth River in the City of Chesapeake; and the Newport News Transportation Center, for which Mr. Lohr is serving as the deputy project manager.
Mr. Lohr has 20 years of project management and civil engineering design experience covering a broad range of transportation projects. He has managed scoping / concept and feasibility studies as well as preliminary and final design for interchanges, roadway widenings, and intersection improvements, including traffic signals. Prior to joining WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, he worked with other consulting firms in Virginia, Tennessee and Texas. One of his projects, which he led through final design, was the $300 million I-65/I-22 interchange in Birmingham, Alabama, which opened in June.
A licensed professional engineer in Virginia, North Carolina, the District of Columbia and six other states, Mr. Lohr received an M.S. in civil engineering and a bachelor of civil engineering degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology. His professional affiliations include the American Society of Highway Engineers, Greater Hampton Roads Chapter and the Order of the Engineer.
