Roark Lanning has been named director of wind energy at WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, a global engineering and professional services organization. He is based in the firm’s Denver office.


WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff’s power group provides a full range of technical, management and advisory services in power generation as well as transmission and distribution, including projects that use renewable sources of energy. In his new position, Mr. Lanning will lead business development for engineering services in the U.S. onshore wind energy market, and will provide project management and oversight for engineering design and related studies.

In addition, he will support other activities in the renewable energy market to include expanding services to developers working to realize the potential of offshore wind, and participating in activities such as solar energy design engineering and independent engineering/due diligence.

Mr. Lanning has 15 years of experience in engineering and management for complex utility and industrial projects. Prior to joining WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, he was director of mechanical engineering for a global renewable energy company based in Colorado.

A licensed professional engineer in California, Colorado, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma and Texas, Mr. Lanning earned a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of California, Santa Cruz. He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
