WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff announced today the expansion of its building technology systems (BTS) practice to Los Angeles. Blake D. Forbes, an associate in the firm’s U.S. buildings sector, will lead the new department, which will be collocated with the current Los Angeles office of WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, a global engineering and professional services organization.

Mr. Forbes is relocating from the firm’s San Francisco office, where he served for five years, most recently as co-leader of the BTS department.
The announcement follows the opening of the Los Angeles buildings office earlier this year, with the hires of Dan Delisle, who leads the office’s building enclosures group, and Howard Ho, who leads MEP efforts in the region. In the Los Angeles area, WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff is currently providing engineering services for Oceanwide Plaza, 888 Grand Hope and the Wetherly Four Seasons Residences. The firm has performed BTS services on Transbay Transit Center, SFO Terminal 3, and 181 Fremont in San Francisco; UC Davis Shrem Art Museum in Davis; Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta; and Yongsan International Business District in Seoul, South Korea.

“Blake will be responsible for expanding our resources in southern California to include BTS services,” said Sarah Kuchera, managing director of the San Francisco buildings office of WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff. “His technical skills and broad project experience make him ideally suited to oversee the delivery of BTS services for our local clients.”
The firm also announced today that Gareth Ashley has been hired to lead the BTS department in San Francisco.

Since 2006, Mr. Forbes has been involved in the project management, design and master planning of telecommunications, electronic security and audio-visual systems nationally and internationally. He has experience designing many building types, including hospitality, continuing care retirement communities, multi-family housing, mixed-use facilities, higher education, student housing, government and Department of Defense.

Mr. Forbes earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is a member of BICSI and holds RCDD certification.
The California buildings practice of WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff offers complete services in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and structural engineering; architectural lighting design; building technology; high performance design by Built Ecology; acoustics; commissioning; and building enclosures.
