SAN DIEGO, CA – Ebrahim Amiri (Hormozaki) has been named senior supervising engineer for bridges and structures in the San Diego office of WSP USA, formerly WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, a leading engineering and professional services consultancy.
In his new position, Dr. Amiri will focus on expanding the firm’s bridge capabilities and market share in the San Diego area. He will also lead bridge projects in the Southern California region and provide leadership of the firm’s San Diego-based structures team.
Dr. Amiri’s experience includes design, construction support, and project management of bridge-centered projects. Prior to joining WSP, he served as project manager and senior bridge engineer for an international engineering firm. He contributed to several key bridge projects in southern California including the San Diego River Bridge for the San Diego Association of Governments and the Georgia Street Bridge reconstruction for the City of San Diego. He has published dozens of articles, papers, and journals in the areas of seismic evaluation, retrofit, rehabilitation, and replacement of highway and railroad bridges, and presented these topics internationally.
A licensed professional engineer in California and Nevada, Dr. Amiri received his Ph.D.in civil engineering from the University of Nevada, focusing on seismic performance and evaluation of bridges. He is a member of several professional organizations including the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and American Concrete Institute and currently serves as the reviewer of ASCE Journal of Bridge Engineering, ASCE Journal of Structural Engineering, and Earthquake Spectra Journal.
