nws-jesse-kropelnickiNEW YORK, NY -- Jesse Kropelnicki has been named director of power at WSP USA, a leading engineering and professional services consultancy.

In his new role, Kropelnicki will manage business and technical operations across all power group segments, including generation, delivery, hydropower, and renewables. The group consists of diverse teams of multidisciplinary experts that have become leading providers of technical, program and project management, and consulting services to the U.S. power market.

Kropelnicki began his career as an engineer on large hydropower projects with WSP. His work included civil/structural analysis and design, dam rehabilitation and remediation, structural inspections, dam safety, conceptual and feasibility studies, and instrumentation and monitoring. He later moved into business strategy within the power group, where he combined his extensive technical experience in the development of hydropower, water resources, and thermal projects with his business and strategic acumen.

“Jesse’s perspective, planning and knowledge of the industry will benefit us in all areas of our power business,” said Roger Blair, president of energy at WSP. “He and I have a shared vision and philosophy for the growth of our business, and helping clients meet today’s challenges, from maintaining a reliable energy supply, to reducing the environmental impact of operations, to improving resiliency.”

WSP’s expertise in power generation dates to the early 20th century. Today, the firm assists clients with all forms of power generation and delivery, from conventional technologies such as oil, coal and gas-fired plants to newer technologies such as cogeneration, combined-cycle generation, hydropower, and renewable energy.

WSP participates in research and project development to mitigate the environmental effects of standard power generation, and its engineers are actively researching techniques to realize the potential of renewable energy efficiently and cost-effectively.

Kropelnicki holds a master’s degree in civil engineering from Northeastern University, and he is a licensed professional engineer in six states. An active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, he has been a frequent speaker on hydropower at industry conferences. In his free time, Kropelnicki is an accomplished triathlete, triathlon coach, and writer.
