BRIARCLIFF MANOR, NY—Christopher Mele has been named a senior supervising engineer at WSP USA, formerly WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, a leading engineering and professional services consultancy.
Mr. Mele will serve as project manager and lead designer on rail, highway and bridge projects, in addition to supporting business development. He will manage business relationships with major clients such as the New York State Department of Transportation, the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, and other state and local agencies.
Mr. Mele has more than two decades of experience in civil and structural engineering for bridges, highways and rail stations. He has worked on bridge rehabilitation planning and design for both steel and concrete structures, as well as design for new and rehabilitated railway stations. He has supervised multidisciplinary project teams, including architects as well as civil, structural, electrical and mechanical engineers, to deliver projects on a fast track.
A registered professional engineer in New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Virginia, Mr. Mele earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and a master's degree in civil engineering from Manhattan College. He is a certified project management professional. He is a member of several prominent organizations including Chi Epsilon, the U.S. national civil engineering honor society; the New York State Society of Professional Engineers; and the Project Management Institute—Westchester Chapter. In his community, Mr. Mele serves as team manager for the Westchester Vipers Peewee '05 hockey team.
