ATLANTA, GA -- Three water and environment experts—James Miller, Rasheed Ahmad and Connor Wraight—have joined the Atlanta office of WSP USA, a leading engineering and professional services consultancy. They will provide essential planning and design guidance to public and private clients in the region as part of a team that is helping government organizations and private companies meet their environmental regulations and reach their sustainability goals through inspections and analysis.
“James, Rasheed and Connor are setting a foundation that will provide a full range of water and environment service offerings to clients in not only the Atlanta area, but also in the Southeast U.S.,” said Chip Smith, Carolinas-Georgia Water & Environment Area Manager. “Their knowledge and familiarity with critical safety, sustainability and health issues related to facilities and projects will be a tremendous asset to our firm, and to the clients we serve.”
Miller will serve private industry clients, while Ahmad and Wraight will work primarily with municipal and county government clients.
Miller, a senior project director and local office lead for WSP, is responsible for site investigation and remediation, health and safety planning and program implementation, and compliance assurance. He brings 30 years of experience and senior leadership to the firm. His expertise includes industrial hygiene surveys involving noise, dust monitoring, gas testing, and health and safety compliance audit work. A graduate of La Salle University with a bachelor’s degree in geology, Miller recently provided safety program support for facilities that included an offshore oil rig, an automotive manufacturing plant and an airplane and helicopter manufacturing plant.
Ahmad, a supervising water resources engineer for WSP, provides national senior level technical expertise in water, waste water, and combined sewer system collection, distribution and treatment. His water and wastewater utility management experience is focused on hydraulic modeling, asset evaluation for water availability and sewer capacity, master planning, risk analysis, water main renewal/replacement programs, water outage management and intelligent water solutions. Ahmad is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology with a doctorate degree in environmental engineering and has been working in the Atlanta area over 20 years. He recently served as sewer hydraulic modeling manager for the City of Atlanta’s sewer system.
Wraight, a water resources engineer for WSP, provides local staff engineering expertise in water, waste water and combined sewer system design. He is providing on-call engineering services for the City of Atlanta’s Department of Watershed Management. Wraight is a graduate of Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in environmental and ecological engineering. Prior to joining WSP, he served as a civil engineer for a Milwaukee-based firm that specializes in designing sewers, waste water and water distribution systems; and as a civil engineer for an Indianapolis design firm that specializes in healthcare architecture and civil and structural engineering.
WSP helps public and private clients address a wide range of water and environmental concerns covering air, land and water. These strategic hires will further enhance the firm’s water and environment practice, which delivers pragmatic, innovative and cost-effective solutions to address the most complex challenges our clients face, such as the pressures of adapting to climate change. WSP provides water utilities owners and operators with long-term sustainable solutions that balance the need for reliable and safe water supplies, and efficient conveyance and treatment of water while protecting the nation’s water resources.
