James “Jim” Buckley was named vice president and mechanical department head for the Houston office of WSP USA. 


Houston, TX — James “Jim” Buckley has been named a vice president and mechanical department head for the Houston office of WSP USA, a leading engineering and professional services consultancy.

In his new role, Mr. Buckley will be responsible for managing the office’s mechanical department. He will also lead engineering teams in Houston on a wide range of projects, including work at MD Anderson Cancer Center, The University of Texas Medical Branch, Texas A&M University, Dow World Headquarters, and Ascension Medical Projects.

Previously, he was a senior project manager and mechanical discipline lead for Jacobs in Houston. Prior to that, he led mechanical design on science and technology projects for ccrd partners, which was acquired by WSP in 2014. His past project experience includes Galveston National Laboratory at the University of Texas Medical Branch; a Veterinary Research Building Addition at Texas A&M University; the new Terminal C North at George Bush Intercontinental Airport; and the International Terminal and FIS Expansion at William P. Hobby Airport.

Mr. Buckley has a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University and is a graduate of Carrier Corporation’s basic system design course. He is a registered professional engineer in Texas, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Utah, Michigan, Oklahoma, and Minnesota. He was previously the Houston Chapter President of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and is a past chairman and current member of technical committee 5.6, “Control of Fire and Smoke,” and a current member of technical committee 4.12. He is also the current ASHRAE Liaison to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), as well as a member of NFPA’s Standard 90A and 90B Committee.
