WASHINGTON, D.C. – From design and construction to vibration and decommissioning, tunneling experts from WSP USA will give presentations on the technical challenges of underground excavation during the 2018 North American Tunneling Conference, June 24 to 27, in Washington, D.C.
“We look forward to discussing a variety of issues in tunnel engineering with our clients and industry colleagues,” said Frank Pepe, director of the U.S. geotechnical and tunneling technical excellence center of WSP, a leading engineering and professional services consultancy.
WSP is a Gold sponsor of the conference and will be exhibiting in booth 208 at the Marriott Wardman Park.
During the conference, WSP, along with the joint venture of Schiavone/Kiewit and the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), will receive the Project of the Year Award from the Underground Construction Association of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration for the Northern Boulevard Crossing, an extremely technically challenging tunnel built through the New Austrian Tunneling Method for the Northern Boulevard Crossing section of the MTA’s East Side Access project.
Speakers from WSP will be presenting at the following technical sessions:
June 25, 1:30 p.m
• Elasto-Plastic Design of Fiber Reinforced Concrete Tunnel Linings
