nws-beam-larryWashington, DC — Larry Beam, senior vice president with WSP USA and managing director of the firm’s Arlington, VA office, has been named to the Board of Trustees for the National Building Museum in Washington, D. C.

The National Building Museum transforms the understanding of the history and impact of architecture, engineering, landscape architecture and design. Through exhibitions, educational programs and special events, the museum shares stories about the built world and its power to shape our lives, communities and futures.

The support of trustees plays an important role in helping the Museum continue to be at the forefront of the innovative, forward-thinking ideas in the building industry. Mr. Beam joins the Board of Trustees along with other highly respected local industry leaders.

“It is a great honor to be named to the National Building Museum’s Board of Trustees,” Mr. Beam said. “The mission of the Museum is to inspire curiosity in the world we design and build. This is closely aligned with WSP’s mission and values, and our depth of experience will make us a strong partner of the museum in pursuit of that goal.”

In addition to Mr. Beam’s new role as Trustee, the Arlington office of WSP recently supported the Museum’s winning application for a grant from the United Engineering Foundation to develop a live-stream youth education series called Engineering Solutions. The series will target students aged 10-14 and will examine the built environment through the lens of various engineering disciplines. WSP will serve as a subject matter expert and resource for the series.

With several decades of experience in building engineering design and project management, Mr. Beam oversees the Arlington office of WSP, which provides structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering and related specialty services, including enclosures engineering and high performance design by Built Ecology. He holds a bachelor of architectural engineering degree from Pennsylvania State University.
