CHICAGO — Joseph Willhite has been appointed regional business manager for the 13-state Central Region of WSP USA, a leading engineering and professional services consultancy. Willhite, a senior transportation leader, has been engaged in multiple billion dollar projects for major highway, bridge and rail programs in the US. He has built and managed diverse teams that deliver future-focused solutions to complex planning, design, construction management and general engineering consultant projects.
“Joe’s experience as a transportation industry practitioner and a business leader brings our clients a unique understanding of the needs communities face from early project development through delivery,” said Joseph Pulicare, president of transportation & infrastructure for WSP USA. “He will be instrumental in working with local civic leaders to help shape the transportation legislative agenda on the local and state level.”
Willhite has worked at WSP since 2013, serving in project management, office leadership and regional business operations roles. His project experience ranges from regional governance structure and finance planning, to corridor redevelopment and funding plans, and environmental impact assessments, pedestrian analyses, and multi-modal corridor studies. He has also been instrumental in advancing the firm’s mentor-protégé and diversity plan development programs.
Willhite holds a master of arts in planning from the University of Minnesota and a bachelor of arts in geography from Carthage College. He is a registered American Institute of Certified Planners and is a member of the American Planning Association. He will be based in the firm’s Chicago office.
