Sam Knaster's appointment as business manager highlights WSP USA's renewed focus on Mid-Atlantic region.

PHILADELPHIA — Samuel Knaster has been appointed by WSP USA, a leading engineering and professional services consultancy, to serve as Mid-Atlantic regional business manager.

Knaster is responsible for client engagement, operational management, technical leadership, and financial oversight for the firm’s Mid-Atlantic region, which includes Delaware, Kentucky, Ohio, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington D.C., and West Virginia.

Based in the firm’s Philadelphia office, Knaster also serves as surface transportation market lead responsible for business development efforts and major pursuits for clients including transportation departments, toll agencies and municipalities.

Knaster led Louis Berger’s U.S. transportation design practice until the firm’s acquisition by WSP in December 2018. He has over four decades of design, project management and business leadership experience, having served in various roles of increasing levels of operational responsibilities.

“We’re fortunate to have Sam as our new business manager for the Mid-Atlantic region. His entire career has been dedicated to serving clients here, so he has a deep understanding of the programs and the needs that are driving infrastructure development in the region,” said Joseph Pulicare, president of transportation & infrastructure for WSP USA. “He’s also a great leader for our regional team. He values collaboration and teamwork, and is committed to creating opportunities for staff and developing the next generation of leaders.”

Knaster holds a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Belarusian Institute of Railway Engineers and a master of science in civil engineering from Drexel University.

WSP established its Mid-Atlantic region in response to market changes, including shifts in population, infrastructure investment and client priorities observed in developing the firm’s forthcoming three-year strategic plan.

“With the formation of this region, we are better aligning ourselves to meet our clients’ needs by assigning greater focus, leadership and accountability to this strategically important geography,” said Pulicare. “We are poised and excited to reach our growth potential throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.”
