CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA — WSP USA, a leading engineering and professional services firm, collaborated with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to host a technical assistance training program, with the overarching goal of strengthening the technical capacity for small, disadvantaged, veteran and emerging businesses to bid on current and future public works contracts, such as California High-Speed Rail.
“WSP is committed to involving local communities in major infrastructure projects and regularly seeks opportunities to collaborate with small businesses,” said Kevin Reed, West regional operations manager at WSP. “We hope the information presented will help small businesses to join us in building California’s future by working on public works contracts. We thank the U.S. Small Business Administration and all of the organizations represented here today for partnering with us in this important endeavor.”
Through speeches and presentations from state partners, the Sept. 10 event aimed to provide small, disadvantaged and veteran businesses with the information and resources they need to compete and succeed on public works projects.
“Events like these help small business owners realize their own American dreams,” said Heather Luzzi, U.S. SBA Sacramento district director. “Strengthening the capacity of small businesses seeking government contracting opportunities is a win for our economy, entrepreneurs, employees, and the communities they directly impact.”
WSP, in collaboration with the U.S. SBA, partnered with the California High-Speed Rail Authority, Department of General Services, Veterans in Business Network, California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Sacramento Asian Chamber of Commerce, California Capital Procurement Technical Assistance Center and California Veterans Organization.
