CHARLOTTE — WSP USA, a leading engineering and professional services consultancy, announced four hires and promotions in the Southeast region.
“These four individuals bring a deep understanding of our clients’ programs and have a passion for addressing needs and creating solutions,” said Pamela Townsend, Southeast region business manager at WSP. “The strengths they bring will help the region deliver on current and future projects and have significant impact on further developing our presence in the Southeast.”
Michael Kirk was named the Southeast regional alternative delivery manager. Kirk provides alternative delivery advisory services for design-build and public-private partnership projects. Based in Charleston, South Carolina, Kirk has 30 years of experience managing contracts and interdisciplinary teams on infrastructure projects worldwide. He currently serves as the senior executive providing general engineering consulting services to the Maryland Department of Transportation for its I-495/I-270 Congestion Relief program. Kirk earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from The Citadel.
Brock LaForty was named Southeast regional business development director, where he is responsible for driving business development strategy and identifying growth opportunities within new and existing markets. LaForty is a strategic and growth-oriented business leader with 23 years of experience in the transportation and infrastructure consulting market. As Carolinas’ area manager for WSP, he has grown the region’s sales and diversified the portfolio to include new transit, aviation, ports and highway/bridge clients. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Geneseo.
Jennifer Recchie joins the Orlando, Florida office as Southeast regional marketing manager, where she will provide leadership to the staff and drive the processes for high quality submittals, presentations, market research and status reporting. She brings two decades of experience creating, managing and executing sales strategies for growing professional services companies. She previously served as national business development strategy manager for a transportation engineering and design firm in Orlando. Recchie holds a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University.
Mike Surasky was named Southeast regional operations manager, where he will be responsible for assisting the firm’s regional business manager on operational matters. Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, Surasky will provide performance oversight and resource management for the firm’s Technical Excellence Centers in the region and collaborate with area managers on operational aspects of the business. He has 22 years of experience in transportation planning and traffic engineering as well as roadway, roundabout and signal design. Surasky earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from North Carolina State University.
