In response to threats facing our nation that could potentially jeopardize the $95 billion U.S. agriculture and health industry, the Department of Homeland Security is commissioning the new National Bio and Agro-defense Facility (NBAF), which will be located on the campus of Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. The  BSL-4 facility replaces the Plum Island Animal Disease Center, a Federal Complex where  research on foreign animal diseases has been ongoing since 1954.

WSP is providing lead MEP engineering and site infrastructure for the facility, as well as commissioning for the specialty research laboratories with a focus on providing a state-of-the-art facility to help the U.S. Government enhance capabilities to meet the mandated national bio and agro-defense mission requirements of the U.S. Departments of Homeland Security, Health and HumanServices and Agriculture.
