Home to the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts, the nine-story, state-of-the-art stadium features a fully retractable roof and offers seating for up to 63,000 spectators. Totaling 1.8 million square feet, seating can be expanded to accommodate 75,000 people for larger events. WSP USA provided MEP engineering and lighting design for the project.

From Concept to Construction

Initial work included unit concept engineering for the project feasibility study used to secure legislative approval. WSP extended its work on the project, providing full engineering through completion. Deliverables consisted of extensive CFD modelling of the stadium seating bowl air distribution were performed to optimized air diffuser selection and aiming to provide good temperature conditions and reasonable air velocities at the seats.

The stadium also hosts the annual National College Athletic Association's (NCAA) Final Four basketball tournaments for men's and women's basketball. It can also be configured for conventions, exhibitions, fairs and concerts, offering over 185,000 square feet.
